A video of a Russian woman performing an obscene dance at the premises of the Khereshwar Mahadev Temple in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, has gone viral on social media. The temple administration organized a cultural event during the Chhath Mela (fair), but inviting a bar dancer for the program has sparked outrage among devotees. On stage, the woman performed provocative gestures and exposed parts of her body while dancing.
Men seated in the front rows were seen cheering, while two women were spotted standing near the stage. Reports indicate that a large crowd had gathered to watch the performance.Purpose of the Event The Khereshwar Mahadev Temple, under the Lodha police station jurisdiction, hosts cultural programs every year during the Chhath Mela. However, this time, the organizers invited a bar dancer, leading to an obscene dance performance instead of a religious or cultural event.
This has caused significant distress among devotees, who feel their religious sentiments have been hurt.Devotees’ Objections Expressing their discontent, devotees stated, “Organizing such an obscene dance in the temple premises has hurt our religious sentiments. It was wrong for the organizers to allow such an act under the guise of a cultural program. The temple administration should have been more responsible in deciding what kind of events to organize and whom to invite in a sacred place.
”Viral Video The dance video was uploaded by Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj on her X account (@DeepikaBhardwaj). She commented, “Russian mujra at Aligarh’s ancient Shri Khereshwar Mahadev Temple. After watching this video, I don’t know whether to laugh or cry.” The video has garnered over 13,000 views so far.Temple Administration’s Response Following intense public criticism, the temple administration is reportedly reviewing its decision regarding the event.
